Granville Hugh Glasco was born on September 29, 1940, in Hempstead, New York. He was one of eight children of Bessie Beggs Johnson. His siblings were Willis Johnson, Dorothy Mae Johnson, Alnita Johnson, Albert Leo Johnson, Theodore Yulee Johnson, Edwina Glasco and Camilla “Tuggie” Glasco.
Sonny graduated from Hempstead High School in 1958 and eventually started a career at Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage, New York. He worked for Grumman as an engineer for 25 years and it was at Grumman that he met the love of his life Connie (Burwell) Glasco. He retired in 1995 from Grumman, then he and Connie relocated to Florida in 2001, eventually settling in Leesburg, where he lived out the rest of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Connie Glasco, his children, Granville Todd Glasco, Dirk Hugh Glasco, Keith Harris and as well as his adopted children that he helped raise Jill Williams and Nathan Steele. His grandchildren, Jose Martinez, Joshua Glasco, Jillian Glasco, Jessica Glasco, Sonny Harris, Shanelle Adams, Jillian Harris, Dominique Harris, Darnell Williams and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A visitation will be held on April 20, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Page Theus Funeral Home Chapel, located at 914 W. Main Street in Leesburg.
