Fast growth of Leesburg overburdening our roads

To the Editor

There is very poor planning as the fast growth of Leesburg and the roads that can’t handle the heavy traffic flow!
Yep, bumper to bumper – it is so bad you can’t get in or out of Marlene
on to U.S. Hwy. 27.
The City of Leesburg says it is up to Lake County as to putting in a traffic light and the county says it is the state!
There is more traffic turning into and out of Marlene to get to the new assisted living unit built on the corner! The speed limit coming in and out of Leesburg on U.S. Hwy. 27 is 35 mph if you can find a sign!
However, hey push 50 to 60 mph and no police giving out speeding tickets or trying to slow them down.
Note: On this road there are kids waiting for their school bus. Young kids. I shudder every day as something really bad could happen to them . Their safety is at risk due to heavy traffic moving at high speeds.
The city, county or Florida Department of Transportation needs to address this issue!
