Stephen Carson Payne, of Eustis, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024. He was 81.
Steve was born in Upper Carlton, St. James, Barbados. He was living in Florida and relocated to New York, only to return to Florida in 1999.
Stephen was a Technician for IBM for over 30 years. He met Rosa “Pearl” while working there and fell in love. They were married for 59 years before she passed away in 2021. He was a member of the Barbados Association of Central Florida. He enjoyed hunting but Steve’s passion was kite building. He built all different styles, sizes and colors.
Stephen is survived by his children, Beverly of St. James; Stephen C. Payne, Jr. of Canutillo, Texas, and Stephanie Payne of Brooklyn, New York; siblings, Carol, Ulah, Wycliffe, Cynthia, Jerome, Owen, Michael, Myra, Sandy, Tiny, Norma, Verna, Cheryl and Anderson; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; his nephews, Nigel L. Payne and Glenroy Payne, as well as several other nieces and nephews and his cousin, Sonia Moore.
Stephen will be cremated. A committal service will be held in the near future at Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis, where he will be laid to rest with Pearl.
