A deputy responded to a domestic battery complaint at an undisclosed Leesburg residence around 4:50 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, the deputy spoke to a female victim who stated that she asked her son, 37-year-old James Michael Mann, to stop allowing homeless people to live in his room. At that time, a verbal argument ensued between the two, the report said.

Shortly after, the victim entered the hallway where Mann grabbed her by the arm and screamed profanity at her. She then walked outside. The deputy did indeed observe and photograph multiple fresh, bleeding abrasions on the top of her left forearm, the report said.

The deputy then talked to Mann who advised that the victim went into his bedroom and began to yell at him about the company he kept. He stood up and pushed her out of his room with his chest but did not touch her with his hands. She fell to the ground, and the two separated, the report said.

Based on statements given by both parties along with the visible injuries, Mann was determined to be the primary aggressor. He was arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic) and transported to Lake County Jail. He was released after posting $1,000 bond.
