Jane Elizabeth Struckman, of Fruitland Park, Fla., passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023, at the age of 96, one month exactly before her 97th birthday.

She was born on November 23, 1926, in Wellsboro, to Louis and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick. She is predeceased by her parents and older brother Wilburn Kirkpatrick, husband, William A. Smithgall, husband, Melvin Struckman and granddaughter, Amy Hollenbeck Zinck.

She was a member of First Christian Church for well over 50 years, taught Sunday School and was active in the Women’s Missionary Group and choir.

She provided an ear and helpful advice to her children’s friends over the years, entertained grandchildren, dispensing M&Ms freely while explaining they were “vitamins.”
Her love of chocolate and the color purple are legendary.

She is survived by her children, Jody Wilcox (Don) of Wellsboro, Andrea Blair (Bob) of Leesburg, Fla., William Todd Smithgall (Pam) of League City, Texas, and stepdaughter Linda Varhol (Ron) of Clermont, Fla., seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
