A Leesburg man free on bond from an arrest one week earlier was apprehended after fleeing from law enforcement in a stolen car at 100 miles per hour.
A Florida Highway Patrol trooper had been alerted that a Nissan Frontier SUV had been stolen on Wednesday morning from a woman in Apopka. The trooper was directed to a gas station on U.S. 301 in Wildwood where he pulled into the parking lot in front of the stolen SUV. He saw the driver, later identified as 20-year-old Stacy Cerese Allamar Harvard, and two male passengers in the stolen vehicle.
Harvard was able to pull around the patrol car and fled north on U.S. 301 at a high rate of speed. As the trooper pursued the SUV, he saw Harvard make a wide turn onto State Road 44 and attain speeds of more than 100 miles per hour into Lake County. The trooper used a PIT (precision immobilization technique) maneuver to force the SUV to stop. The trooper ordered Harvard and the passengers from the vehicle. Harvard exited the vehicle using the front passenger’s door and ran from the trooper who chased after him. The trooper was able to catch up to Harvard, who stands 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 280 pound, and took him into custody. The passengers in the SUV ran off and were not found.
Harvard was in possession of the drugs MDMA and Xanax.
He was arrested on multiple charges including vehicle theft and drug possession. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention where a hold was put on his custody by Lake County.
He had been arrested Feb. 7 on a warrant charging him with theft. He had been free on $16,000 bond when he was taken into custody after the FHP chase.
