Wayne Ward of Okahumpka, Florida passed away on January 3rd, peacefully of natural causes.
He was born in Effingham IL, to Harry and Willanna Ward on August 18, 1944. He graduated from Southern Illinois University with an Electrical Engineering degree. He was married to Jane Ward on June 11th, 1966.
Wayne worked at Motorola for 30 years as an electrical engineer in charge of FCC compliance and testing equipment for pagers, cell phones and radios. He loved fixing things. His hobbies often involved critical thinking and design; like solar projects and fixing antique cars. He had an adventurous spirit. He enjoyed scuba diving, boating, hiking, and camping with family and friends. His kindness was evident throughout his life. He was constantly helping others in numerous ways. He adored talking and laughing with others. Some of his favorite moments were happy hours in the Keys and visiting with family and friends. Many people were lucky enough to hear his favorite stories; several of us can even recite them.
He is survived by Jane Ward, his loving wife of 56 years. Larry Ward and Catie Frier, his children who enjoyed spending time with him. He was a proud father. His grandchildren, Sierra, Cody, and Hunter Frier cherished vacationing with him. His brother, Howard Ward, was someone he looked forward to talking and joking around with. He will be missed dearly by family and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday January 22nd at Morrison United Methodist Church in the Family Life Center, Building #3 1005 W. Main Street, Leesburg, FL 34748.
