Dr. Gene Serra, Jr., 83, of Weirsdale, Florida passed away in The Villages, Florida on November 19, 2022.
He was born in Manila, Philippines on April 03, 1939. He moved to Florida from Pennsylvania in 1973. He was with his significant other, Gloria Austin for 20 years. Dr. Serra was a General Surgeon with offices in Leesburg and Bushnell, Florida. His hobbies were hunting and fishing. He was a champion ballroom dancer. He loved being a part of his community and was a beloved physician of South Sumter for many years.
He is survived by sons: Rick Serra (Weena Favis) of Leesburg, Florida and Fernando Serra (Teri Serra) of Oxford, Florida; grandchildren: Samantha Favis, Nick Serra, and Hannah Serra. He was preceded in death by his wife: Nelly G. Serra.
A service will be held at Purcell Chapel of Beyers Funeral Home on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11:00 am, with visitation from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. All arrangements have been entrusted to Purcell Chapel of Beyers Funeral Home.
