An 84-year-old Leesburg woman was attacked by her granddaughter early Friday evening at the Aaron’s rental parking lot.
A witness called the Leesburg Police Department and told the dispatcher that she saw a woman, later identified as 27-year-old Brittany Sharial Brown, hitting and screaming at an older woman in a van. The witness pointed the van out to the police when they arrived at the store located in the 900 block of North 14th Street.
Officers made contact with the 84-year-old who confirmed that she had been struck by her granddaughter after they had got into an argument over money. The officer who spoke with the victim could see bruises forming on her arm.
When the officer found Brown, she refused to discuss the incident. Brown was placed under arrest. After booking Brown at the Leesburg Police Department where she was charged with battery to a victim 65 years of age or older, she was transported to the Lake County Jail where bond was set at $2,000.
