The owner of a Leesburg pharmacy foiled a New Year’s Eve burglary at his business.
The owner of Silver Lake Pharmacy at 32729 Radio Road was driving by the store when he saw a man, later identified as 35-year-old Christopher C. Emery, swing a hammer at the glass on the front door of the business.
The owner pulled into a parking lot where he could keep the man in view and called Leesburg police for assistance. The owner watched the man enter the pharmacy and exit a few minutes later, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
The first officer to respond to the scene found Emery sitting under the covered porch, near the broken door. A hammer was found near where Emery was sitting.
Emery was charged with burglary by forced entry. He was transported to the Lake County Jail where bond was set at $5,000.
Emery has an extensive criminal record. He was arrested on Dec. 14 after trespassing at the Goodwill story. He was also arrested in June.
