A corrections officer at the Lake County Jail was arrested Thursday and charged with solicitation of prostitution.
Marcus Moore Jr. was taken into custody on a warrant from the Leesburg Police Department following an investigation that started this past Sept. 12, a Lake County Sheriff’s Office report states.
Moore is accused of contacting a woman he knew from high school and offering her his paycheck for sex, to which she declined. Over the next few months, Moore was persistent in asking the woman out and she continued to decline his offers. On Oct. 18, Moore again allegedly offered the woman money for sex, the report says.
The woman then notified the Leesburg Police Department, which launched an investigation. Officers eventually determined that the messages left for the woman originated from Moore’s phone and his Snapchat account, the report says.
Moore has been employed at the Lake County Jail since July 2016. He was suspended pending termination proceedings.
