Bonnie Lu Vanzant, 84, of Mount Dora, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023.

Born in Eustis, Florida, she was a lifelong resident of Lake County. Bonnie graduated from Tavares High School and attended Florida State University. Early in her life, Bonnie was a cosmetologist, graduating from Vo-Tech in Eustis. She loved styling and taking care of hair for friends and family throughout her life. Later in life, she worked as a Teacher’s Assistant for Lake Hills School from 1990 and retiring in 2001.

After her retirement, she continued to volunteer at the school, working with the kids she loved. She was a published and award-winning photographer. She was a member of the Tavares Junior Women’s Club, In-Focus Photo Club (where she was an officer), and the Art Guild of Mount Dora. She was always very active with the First United Methodist Church, where she also belonged to the Women’s Guild.

Bonnie is survived by her son, Lance Maynard Vanzant, Mount Dora, FL; daughter, Amy Faye Vanzant-Hodge, Cypress, TX; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
