A Leesburg man who’s never had a driver’s license is back in the Lake County Jail after being arrested on DUI charges for the second time in a matter of weeks.

Sergio Coronado-Quistian is being held on $35,000 bond after his arrest Sunday night by a Lake County sheriff’s deputy in Mount Dora. The native of Mexico was previously arrested on the same charges March 30 in Leesburg.

At around 9:20 p.m., the deputy saw a truck traveling south on U.S. Hwy. 441 cross over the white center line into the left lane from the right lane and then suddenly correct back into the right lane. The vehicle then overcorrected over the fog line on the right side of the road, according to the sheriff’s office arrest report.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop and the truck pulled into the parking lot of the Racetrac store at U.S. Highway 441 and Wolf Branch Road. After entering the parking lot, the vehicle failed to stop until the deputy activated his emergency siren, the report said.

The deputy spoke with the driver, later identified as Coronado-Quistian, and immediately detected alcohol on his breath. Asked whether he had consumed any alcoholic beverages, Coronado-Quisitian said he had not. He later changed his story to say he had consumed approximately two Corona beers, according to the report.

When Coronado-Quistian got out of his vehicle, the deputy noticed he continuously leaned on his vehicle and swayed when standing. His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, the report said.

Coronado-Quistian agreed to perform a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed. A computer search showed that he didn’t have a driver’s license and has never possessed one, according to the report.

Coronado-Quistian was placed under arrest and taken to the jail, where he refused to provide a breath sample for testing. He also refused to speak to deputies after being read his Miranda warning.
