Daniel John Andrzejewski passed away on Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25, 2022, a month shy of his 89th birthday. He was born on January 25, 1934 to Peter and Mary (Nowacki) Andrzejewski in Toledo, Ohio. Danny (some friends called him Andy) worked for many years as a chauffeur and bodyguard to Dr. Armand Hammer, Chairman of Occidental Petroleum Oil Corporation, at their corporate headquarters in West Los Angeles until his retirement in the early 1990’s.
He loved fishing, traveling, watching Ohio State football, playing checkers and card games, watching old westerns, having drinks with friends and family, and singing Dean Martin tunes. Danny loved animals, and he never met a dog, cat or squirrel that he did not want to spoil with treats. He enjoyed a long retirement of over 30 years and felt very blessed. He knew how to enjoy life, stay active and make people laugh.
In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his sisters, Zita Lesinski, Esther Malak, Alice Malak and Diana “Donna” Szilagye, and his brothers, Edwin Andrews, John Andrews, Robert Andrzejewski, and Peter Andrzejewski. Left to cherish Danny’s memory are his loving children Renee Andrzejewski Gurza (Alex Gurza) and Nathan Andrzejewski, his truly beloved grandson Daniel Gurza, his brother Sigmund Andrzejewski, together with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
We will be honoring Danny’s expressed wishes regarding his cremation and a private family service and ask only that you raise a glass in remembrance of Danny and toast to his good humor and good life.
