A Eustis woman had cocaine in her purse and marijuana in her bra when she was arrested for reportedly stealing a PopSocket from an AT&T store in Leesburg.

Brenna Lee Harmon, 34, of 22541 Indianwood Way, was charged with felony retail theft (two or more prior convictions), possession of cocaine and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana. Jail records show Harmon with eight prior arrests since 2018, the most recent in May for three counts of petit theft.

Leesburg police officers responded the store, located at 10430 U.S. Hwy. 441, on Monday afternoon after a report of a person who had previously stolen cell phone accessories from the store being back at the business. The store manager explained the circumstances of the prior incident and identified Harmon, who was walking out of the store, as the suspect, according to the police report.

Officers detained Harmon outside the store and explained why they were stopping her. An officer smelled marijuana emitting from Harmon and searched her purse. Inside the bag was a PopSocket and a small clear baggie containing a white powdery substance.

When the officer removed the PopSocket from Harmon’s purse, she said that was the only item she took without purchasing. She asked if she could sit on the raised concrete planter outside the store, according to the report.

A female officer arrived and searched Harmon’s person, finding a small clear baggie with a green leafy substance in her bra. While Harmon was being searched, officers checked the concrete planter box where she had been sitting and found three pills, the report said.

Harmon said she left the pills there because she thought they were controlled substances. It turned out they were antibiotics and were legal. The white powder in Harmon’s purse tested positive for cocaine, while the green leafy substance in her bra tested positive for marijuana, according to the report.

Harmon was booked at the Leesburg Police Department and taken to the Lake County Jail, where she was released Tuesday on $2,000 bond. She will appear in Lake County Court on Sept. 19.
