FHP investigating crash after Deland driver hits and kills pedestrian on New Year’s Day

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in which a Deland driver hit a pedestrian on New Year’s Day causing fatal injuries to the woman.

The 32-year-old Deland man was driving a car at 9:05 p.m. Saturday southbound on Woodland Boulevard at U.S. Hwy. 92 in Deland when he hit the 31-year-old Orange City woman who had been walking in the southbound lanes of Woodland Boulevard, according to the report. The front of his car hit the woman.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.
