Leesburg detectives looking for information in shooting of 40-year-old man

Leesburg detectives are seeking information regarding a weekend shooting at the Cypress Oaks Apartments in the Sandy Oaks Circle neighborhood.

Leesburg officers responded at 5:48 p.m. Sunday to the scene where officers found a 40-year-old male who had been shot in the abdomen. Officers immediately rendered medical aid and requested Lake EMS and Leesburg Fire/Rescue to assist with medical treatment/transport. The victim was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.

After a search of the area which included the use of a K-9 officer and his dog, officers did not find a suspect.

Leesburg detectives were summoned to the scene where they conducted a canvas of the area and interviewed apparent witnesses.  Several shell casings were also discovered and retrieved as evidence.  The cause of the shooting remains under investigation.
