An elderly Leesburg man pulled a pistol in self defense Sunday afternoon after an intruder poked him in the forehead at his mobile home.

Lake County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the mobile home located on Lee Avenue in Leesburg after the man was approached by 37-year-old Sean Podobensky.

The homeowner said he was working on his electrical box when Podobensky came running toward him screaming that he should not be doing the work, according to an arrest report. Podobensky then kicked the electrical box out of the man’s hands and poked him on his forehead saying, “I am going to kill you.” It was at that point that the homeowner stepped back and pulled his gun, indicating he was ready to defend himself. Several witnesses to the altercation backed up the older man’s version of events. The deputies also observed an abrasion on the man’s forehead which he claimed was caused by Podobensky.

Based on statements from the witnesses and the victim, deputies concluded the use of the gun was in self defense

Podobensky was arrested on charges of battery on a person over the age of 65 years and trespassing. He was booked at the Lake County Jail where bond was set at $2,000 bond.

Podobensky has a history of previous arrests, including an arrest in July on theft and fraud charges.
