A 72-year-old woman pleaded not guilty last week to a charge of driving under the influence following her arrest after sipping Canadian Mist at the Lake County Eagles.

Priscilla Ann Schmidt, 72, of Leesburg, was arrested June 5 after crashing her Ford Mustang into a GMC truck on County Road 33 in Okahumpka, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash was witnessed by an off-duty Center Hill police officer.

The Illinois native admitted she had been drinking Canadian Mist whiskey at the Lake County Eagles during a benefit fish fry. She said she’d had four drinks.

Schmidt, who was wearing flip flops, struggled through field sobriety exercises. She provided breath samples that measured .143 and .142 blood alcohol content. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.

She pleaded not guilty to the charge this past Thursday in Lake County Court. She is due back in court in July.
