A former Big Lots store in Leesburg that closed its doors earlier this year is being converted into a Marshalls.
The new store been under construction at 923 N 14th Street, within Gateway Plaza, for multiple months.
Although there are over 1,200 Marshalls locations across the United States, the new location in Leesburg will fill a void for the retailer in the Lake County area.
In fact, the only other Marshalls location within 20 miles of Leesburg is situated in The Villages.
The old retailer at the site closed its doors in February, despite reports nearly a year ago that the location might remain open as Big Lots proceeded through bankruptcy. At the time, the business was still attempting to negotiate the sale of its assets.
Across the street from the new Marshalls, a new Hungry Howie’s opened its doors earlier this year.
A few doors south of that, HTeaO opened an iced tea drive-through in July 2024. That location closed its doors last month.
