Lake County man seriously injured in crash claiming life of SUV driver

A Lake County man has been seriously injured in a crash that claimed the life of a man driving a sport utility vehicle.

The 37-year-old Groveland man driving a Nissan pickup was traveling westbound on County Road 476 in Sumter County at 7:34 a.m. Monday when he collided nearly head-on with a Chevy SUV driven by a 32-year-old Inverness man, who was traveling eastbound on County Road 476, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol. 

The man who had been driving the SUV suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The Groveland man suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
