At about midnight on Nov. 21, 2023, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from a male victim who stated that he was battered by his roommate, later identified as 38-year-old Adrian Jamar Miller, inside an RV behind his residence, according to an affidavit of probable cause out of Lake County.

The victim advised that while seated inside the RV, Miller came in and accused him of stealing a cash card from him, which he denied. His denial angered Miller, prompting him to close his left and right hands into fists to strike the victim on either side of his face in quick succession, the affidavit said.

The victim feared that Miller would have continued to batter him if not for the verbal intervention of two women, both of which were lived inside the RV. Still, he did not try to defend himself from Miller’s attack and instead fled to a UPS store about 1,000 feet from the residence, the affidavit said.

While interviewing the victim, the deputy observed a small abrasion on the right side of his face between his jaw and cheekbone. The victim confirmed this was a result of Miller striking him, the affidavit said.

The immediate area of the residence was canvassed for Miller with no results, but a search of his criminal history revealed multiple prior convictions. This enhanced Miller’s simple battery to a third-degree felony, the affidavit said.

At about 2 a.m., the deputy returned to the residence and spoke with one of the women inside the RV. She stated that she was asleep inside the RV around the time of the battery and awoke to the sound of arguing between the victim and Miller. She did not see the battery happen but observed Miller standing over the victim while he was seated near the door of the RV. She began yelling at Miller, causing him to leave the victim’s vicinity, the affidavit said.

Miller was subsequently arrested Tuesday in Leesburg on charge of simple battery (second or subsequent offense). He was transported to the Lake County Jail with bond set at $2,000.
