Rodger D. Cain, 74, of Umatilla, FL, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024, with his wife Shananne by his side.

He was born in Akron, Ohio, and moved to Mount Dora as a child. He moved to Umatilla in the early 80’s and enjoyed living the small-town life. He was a service technician for Florida Telephone and later CenturyLink for 41 years prior to his retirement. Rodger served his country in the US Navy from 1968-1972 aboard destroyer The USS Charles S. Sperry. He was a member of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local #3176. He was a fun-loving man and an avid boater, he loved boating on the Harris chain of lakes, the St. Johns River, and any other waterway. He also loved the Great Smoky Mountains and traveled there often.

Rodger is survived by his wife of 32years, Shananne Cain of Umatilla, FL; son, Kyle Webb Cain of Deland, FL; 2 daughters, Randi L. Harris of Eustis, FL and Jessica S. Cain of Spring Hill, FL; 2 brothers, John H. Cain, Jr. of Mount Dora, FL, and Bruce A. Cain of Apopka, FL; sister, Kathy Turk of Mount Dora, FL; 4 grandchildren, Justin Harris, Jordan Harris, Rilynn Cain and Colton Cain.

A celebration of Rodger’s Life will be held at Eustis Community Center, March 3rd at 2 PM. Memorial donations may be made in Rodger’s name via Venmo to Shananne @Shananne-Cain or any United Southern Bank location.
