A deputy spotted the driver of a white Ford truck, later identified as 33-year-old Tomas Camacho Medina, traveling below the speed limit in the left lane of South Bay Street around 6:24 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The truck continued to drive in such a way that it was pacing vehicles in the right lane, making it impossible for anyone to pass and congesting traffic. The deputy began to follow the truck for a short distance during which Medina never made any effort to move over to allow traffic to pass, the report said.

Therefore, the deputy initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of South Bay Street and Barnes Avenue. He then met with Medina, advised him of the reason for the stop and requested his driver’s license, the report said.

Medina provided the deputy with a Mexican ID and stated that he did not have a driver’s license. This was verified through multiple sources before he was placed under arrest, the report said.

Medina was subsequently charged with no valid driver’s license (never had one) and issued a citation for the left lane violation. He was transported to the Lake County Jail and released after posting $500 bond.
