Charlotte Elois Beam
September 2, 1936 – January 6, 2024
Charlotte Elois Beam peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her children at her Sorrento, FL home, on Saturday, January 6th, 2024. Charlotte was born to Cecil and Belle Edwards McAmis on September 2nd, 1936, in Greeneville, TN.
Charlotte met the love of her life, Gene, on the day that he returned from the Army after serving a tour of duty in Korea. She was introduced to Gene by his sister, Betty, on May 5th, 1955. They were married on December 24th, 1955, in Detroit, MI. They lovingly raised their family of four children in Wyandotte, MI. She worked for many years at A&P. Charlotte, Gene, and their youngest daughter, Lisa, moved to Sorrento in 1982, after Gene retired. In Florida, Charlotte went on to work in the property management field, which she greatly enjoyed. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and was a talented seamstress. Her greatest personal pleasures were playing piano and mowing her yard on her riding lawnmower. Charlotte and Gene also enjoyed playing cards on Friday nights with good friends, Harold and Bev Jones.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil McAmis and Belle Marshall; her husband, Gene; her grandson, Derek Fennell; her brother, Jim McAmis, and her nephew, Shawn McAmis.
She is survived by her son, Kevin (Laura) Beam, of Warren, MI; her daughters, Teresa (Bob) Fennell, of Sorrento, Debra (Randy) Savicki, of Wyandotte, MI, Lisa (Dave) Whitehouse, of Simsbury, CT; her grandchildren, Leah Savicki, Darren Fennell, Hannah (Mickey) Davis, Matthew (Monica) Beam, Justin Whitehouse, Alex Beam; her sisters, JoAnn McAmis, Carolyn McAmis and Janice Ferguson; her sister-in-law, Jackie Beam; her nieces, Faye Beam Moore and Renee Beam, and her nephews, Tom Ferguson and Jerry Beam.
Charlotte requested a private service for the family that will be held at the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Dora on Friday, January 12th, 2024, with Chaplain Sam Mullen officiating. Following the service, she will be buried alongside her husband Gene and grandson Derek.
