27-year-old man dies after car leaves roadway and strikes tree in Lake County

A 27-year-old man died after his car left the roadway and struck a tree in Lake County.

The 27-year-old Umatilla man was at the wheel of a 2016 Nissan Versa at 5:12 a.m. Saturday northbound on County Road 439, south of Dairy Road, east of Eustis, when he lost control of the vehicle, it left the roadway and struck a tree, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation. The report noted the man had not been wearing his seatbelt.
