John A. Cardenas, 81, of Leesburg, FL passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023.

John trained as an accountant in Ecuador and became a corporate accountant in the Manufacturing, Real Estate and Hospitality industries. He was also a trained and talented Masseuse. John was compassionate with others, always helping friends or strangers anytime they needed it. He had boundless energy and worked 3rd shift in order to care for his elderly parents during the day. He was always ready and willing to help a friend solve any dilemma. John was an excellent swimmer and always protecting others. Over the course of his life, John saved the lives of multiple people from drowning including his brother, Victor, in the ocean; a woman caught in a riptide while on vacation in Barbados; and a man who had been grabbed by an alligator in Eustis. Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, he moved to the United States in 1963 at the age of 21 and lived in New Jersey. In 1994, he moved and made his home in Central Florida and attended a local church. He enjoyed swimming, kickboxing, cycling, and going on walks.

John is survived by His Wife, Yolanda of Leesburg, FL; Sons, John Edward of Daytona Beach, FL, Jonathan A. of Virginia Beach, VA, and Andrew J. of Leesburg, FL; Daughters, Lolita of Gotha, FL, Heidi of Carlisle, PA, and Yadira of Jersey City, NJ; Brothers, Victor Cardenas of Puerto Rico, and Carlos Alfredo Cardenas of Altamonte Springs, FL; Sister, Martha Cardenas, CA; 11 Grandchildren; 3 Great-Grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.

Services will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 6:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis, on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 4:00 PM till 6:00 PM prior to the service.
