Mary E. (Tripp) Thompson

Mary E. (Tripp) Thompson (Aunt Mary), 93, of Leesburg, Florida passed away on November 29, 2023 just 16 days short of her 94th birthday. Mary was born in Leesburg, Florida on December 15, 1929 to her parents, David and Ella Tripp.
Mary lived her entire life in Lake County, started school in Okahumpka, then to Lee Elementary School and graduating from Leesburg High School with the class of 1948. She remained close to her classmates throughout her life and enjoyed helping to plan and attend class reunions.
After graduation she began her adult life working for George T. Barr Refrigeration and Supplies. Later she worked as a clerk in the Florida Department of Revenue (sales tax division) until her retirement.
In February 1951 she married the love of her life, Charles Thompson and they enjoyed a full and happy life until his death in 1990. Having no children of her own, she became “Aunt Mary”, showing love and caring to many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews in addition to her siblings and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thompson, her parents and all her siblings; brothers Morgan, David, Wilbur, Pete and Bob and sisters Helen and Ruby. Surely, a huge family reunion has occurred in heaven along with Uncle Charles there to greet her.
Family and friends will join together on Wednesday, December 6 at Beyers Funeral Home Leesburg Chapel, 1123 W. Main St at 1:30 pm. Her service will begin at 2 pm with the burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.
