Evelyn Philip Logas passed away peacefully at her home in Mount Dora, Florida, on December 1, 2023 at age 94.

Evelyn was born August 26, 1929, in Wausau, WI, to Philip H. and Stella (Kapralos) Logas, immigrants from Arfara, Greece. Evelyn was the fifth of their six children. She graduated from Wausau High School in 1948. After high school, Evelyn trained as a registered nurse at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital in Chicago, IL. Soon after she joined her family in Florida, studying at Stetson University in Deland, where she worked as Student Body nurse while earning her Bachelor’s Degree. Evelyn then worked for the Crippled Children’s Society in Miami, and as a social worker for Orange County, FL, in the 1960s and early 1970s.

Evelyn was a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Maitland, FL. Over the years she served on numerous non-profit boards, including the Learning Disability Institute, Camp Challenge, and LaAmistad Behavioral Health. She was an active member of the Lake County Republican Women’s Club, and an avid bridge player until her death, joining a lively game weekly at Howey-in-the-Hills.

Evelyn is survived by sisters, Jennie P. Logas of Mount Dora, and Cecilia L. Kourtis (Costa) of Long Beach, CA, and sister-in-law, Alexandra Logas of Altamonte Springs, FL. Aunt Evie will be remembered by her beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family and many friends. Evelyn is predeceased by her parents, brothers, Christ P. Logas and Louis P. Logas, and sister, Mary L. Basiliko.

Services will be held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, located at 1217 Trinity Woods Lane, Maitland, FL., 32751 on Thursday, December 7, 2023. The visitation will be from 9am-10am, followed by the funeral service at 10am. Evelyn will be laid to rest at Pine Forest Cemetery, located at 1801 N. Donnelly Street, Mount Dora, FL., 32757 at 1:30pm.
