Nancy Lurana Hughes, 77, of Eustis, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2023. She was born on December 1, 1945, in Washington DC. Nancy was a beloved science teacher who dedicated her life to educating and inspiring countless students. She began her teaching career at Parkview High in Fairfax, Virginia, and later became a biology teacher at Lake County Schools in Florida, where she taught from 1988 to 2008.

Nancy was known for her quick wit and dry, devilish sense of humor. She had a remarkable ability to make people laugh and was always ready for a good conversation. Her family and friends meant the world to her, and she cherished the time spent with them. Nancy was the family historian and took great pride in preserving and sharing ancestral memorabilia.

She delighted in sharing family stories with her relatives and was loved by all who knew her. Her loss will be deeply felt by her loved ones.

Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, James Madison Hughes III, her mother, Martha Kadel Hughes, and her father,

James Madison Hughes. She is survived by her extended family and friends, who will hold her memory close to their hearts.

In her free time, Nancy enjoyed pursuing her hobbies, which included genealogy, arts and crafts, and playing video games. These activities brought her joy and allowed her to express her creativity and curiosity.

In accordance with Nancy’s wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held. She requested to be laid to rest alongside her beloved parents in the Pine Forest Cemetery in Mt Dora, Florida.

Nancy Lurana Hughes will be remembered for her dedication to education, her infectious laughter, and her love for her family and friends. Her legacy will live on in the lives she touched and the memories she created. May she rest in peace.
