Melanie A. Walker, age 47, formally of Glens Falls, NY and Aurora, CO passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Leesburg hospital after a brief illness with her mom and daughter by her side.
She was born March 22, 1976 in Glens Falls, NY. She was the daughter of Deborah (Hart) Burnham and the late George Walker Jr.
Melanie loved her daughter and her family more than life itself. She had many friends that were also her “family”. Her contagious smile and caring, giving ways touched the lives of many people.
In her early years she worked as a swing manager at McDonalds for 10 years. She then became a pharmacy technician for Rite Aid/Walgreens for 11 years. She was one of the best, efficient, most accurate, and more importantly, caring pharmacy techs ever. Always making sure the patients got their medications and any money saving discounts she could find for them.
Before moving to Colorado, she worked at Alta with her daughter Briana, as an assistant manager. Most recently working for Lowes of Leesburg, where in just a few short months, she earned employee awards and made a whole new family of friends.
She enjoyed the unconditional love and companionship of her little dogs, Muffin and Scrappy. She enjoyed going the ocean and relaxing on the beach, also sunning and swimming at the pool with friends and family.
Melanie is survived by her mother Deborah Burnham, stepmother Nancy Walker, 6 brothers Michael Duggan, Mathew Hunt (Danielle), Marcus Hunt (Alyssa), George Walker III (Lori), Eric Walker (Noriko), Scott Walker (Crystal), 2 sisters Jessica Walker (Jim), Samantha Queary (Travis), 2 step brothers William Burnham (Frances), Joshua Burnham (Rebekah) and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father George Walker Jr., her maternal grandparents Cecil and Elsie Hart, paternal grandparents George Walker Sr. and Ruby Steenburg, and stepfather William H. Burnham.
A celebration of life for Melanie will be in New York at a later date at the convenience of the family.
