Leesburg city commissioners heard the first reading of a proposed annexation ordinance for 12.5 acres of land during Monday’s commission meeting. The property is located west of County Road 468 and north of Jones Drive.

The property will also, if approved at the Oct. 9 commission meeting, be rezoned from a Lake County Urban medium density to the city of Leesburg low density residential.

The proposed subdivison off of County Road 468 and Jones Drive will include 25 single family homes.

Proposed plans call for 25 homes located on 60 x 120 foot lots. The homes will have a minimum of 1,500 square feet and will be required to have as a minimum a two-car attached garage. Access to the subdivision will be on Veech Road.

Commissioner Allyson Berry said that the proposed subdivision would be “a wonderful idea for District 1.”
