A man with a history of harassing customers was arrested for trespassing at a McDonald’s restaurant in Leesburg.
Police responded to the fast-foot restaurant concerning a suspicious person at about 5:45 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. While arriving on scene, law enforcement was advised of a female, later determined to be a 41-year-old man named Leroy Rogers, whom the restaurant manager requested be trespassed.
Upon the officer’s arrival, he observed Rogers on the property. He vacated the area on foot headed eastbound prior to the officer being able to speak to him, the report said.
The officer proceeded to speak with the manager instead, the report said. He advised that Rogers continuously visits the restaurant and harasses his customers when they enter the building. He also confirmed his request to trespass Rogers.
After finishing with the manager, the officer canvassed the surrounding area for Rogers. He was found in the parking lot of a gas station nearby. Despite being described as a female, it was confirmed that he was the correct person in question, the report said.
While speaking with Rogers, he stated that he was at the McDonald’s to eat breakfast. However, the officer was advised that Rogers was previously trespassed from that location in January.
Rogers was subsequently arrested and charged with trespass after warning. He was transported to the Lake County Jail and released of his own recognizance. He is responsible for appearing in court September 6.
Rogers has a lengthy criminal record, including an arrest from March 2017 where he attacked a 65-year-old woman in Lady Lake.
