A Leesburg woman was arrested the day after she reportedly threatened a man with a jar of jelly and a broomstick.

Triana Aleea Robinson, 29, was arrested Saturday morning at an undisclosed hotel where she lives. Police had responded to the hotel on Friday after receiving a report about a battery, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

The victim told an officer that he was inside a room with money he received from one of his friends. He said Robinson became upset and appeared to be jealous that he got money and she didn’t. The victim said the argument escalated and Robinson continuously cursed at him, the report said.

The victim said Robinson backed him into a corner of the hotel room and retrieved a glass jar of jelly from nearby. He said Robinson approached him and threw her hand backward in a swinging motion. The victim said Robinson flinched the arm holding the jelly and said she was going to strike him with it. He said he wrapped his arms around Robinson to keep her from swinging at him, and she scratched and bit him multiple times in retaliation, according to the report.

The victim then separated himself from Robinson, who went inside the hotel room’s bathroom. He said he went to bed and tried to fall asleep while Robinson was in the shower. The victim said once Robinson finished the shower, she started to yell at him again, the report said.

The victim said he was in possession of Robinson’s cell phone and she demanded that he return it. He said he told her he wasn’t going to give it back and Robinson placed her hands on his neck. Robinson did not restrict the victim’s breathing, and he pushed her backwards to create separation from her. The victim said Robinson reacted by striking his head multiple times before he was able to get away, according to the report.

Once the victim finally got away, Robinson retrieved a Swiffer mop handle, held it with both hands and approached the victim. She threatened to strike the victim with the mop handle, and he then contacted law enforcement. Robinson left the area on foot after the call to police, the report said.

Officers observed multiple lacerations on the victim’s neck, chest, and face. His bottom lip was bleeding and appeared to be swollen. Despite this, he refused treatment from Lake EMS, the report said.

At the end of the investigation, a probable cause affidavit was completed for Robinson’s arrest. She was charged with simple domestic battery and simple assault and taken to the Lake County Jail, where she was released on her own recognizance. Robinson will appear in Lake County Court on Aug. 22.
