A Leesburg man from Haiti was charged with DUI after police saw him swerving between fog lines on the road.
An officer observed a black Nissan sedan fail to stop at a steady red traffic signal at the U.S. Highway 27/441 interchange on Saturday. The vehicle slowed significantly after passing through the signal but continued traveling eastbound on 441, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
The officer started following the vehicle, which was traveling with its right wheels over the far-right fog line. The car then switched into the left lane, going so far as to cross over to the far-left fog line. The officer conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, identified as 25-year-old Wilkyf Pressoir, the report said.
When talking with the officer, Pressoir had hazy eyes and responded slowly. He said he was coming from a friend’s house. Pressoir then tried to hide a wristband on his right wrist. As the officer informed dispatch of Pressoir’s license number, he ripped the bracelet off and concealed it under his leg, according to the report.
Pressoir agreed to participate in field sobriety exercises, but his performance led the officer to conclude he was driving under the influence. A breathalyzer test came back with readings of .0105 and .0104, which is above the legal limit, the report said.
After completing the booking paperwork at the Leesburg police station, Pressoir was taken to the Lake County Jail. He was released after posting $1,000 bond.
