Margaret Ellen Dougherty

Margaret Ellen Dougherty, of Eustis, Florida passed away on Friday June 16, 2023, at the age of 82.

Margaret was born to her parents William and Maxine Hunt on February 20, 1941, in Washington, D.C. Margaret traveled the world and worked many different jobs with the United States Government. From starting in the Pentagon, working as a state aide, working in communications with Stratcom, and as the Joint Chief of Staff Administrator for the U.S. Department of Defense. She moved to the Central Florida area in 1997. She was an active member at the New Hope Presbyterian Church in Eustis, Florida. Anywhere there was a need in the church from food banks, to sharpening pencils, she would be there ready to help.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Ford Dougherty Jr.; parents William and Maxine Hunt; Brothers William and Richard Hunt; nephews Stuart Hunt and Richard Sharp; stepson Richard Dougherty; and brother-in-law Arthur E Sharp Jr.

Margaret is survived by her stepson Thomas Dougherty Jr., sister Phyllis Sharp, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church at a future date. Please check back for additional information. She will be placed to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to the New Hope Presbyterian Church.
