Ernest Alfred Rossi, 83, of Leesburg, FL, passed away on May 2, 2023 at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Ernest was born in New York on April 26, 1940. He spent most of his life there until moving to Florida after marrying his beloved wife, Virginia, on April 23, 2006.
Ernest was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lake County as well as the President of the Astronomy Club at The Plantation. Ernest spent six years as a reservist in the Army during the summers and worked for many years as a Data Analyst until his retirement in 1992.
Ernest’s passion for astronomy began at the age of 10. He owned several telescopes and also taught adjunct astronomy classes periodically. He was a highly intelligent man and loved to share his knowledge with others. Ernest was also a champion weightlifter and loved to stay fit.
Ernest will be missed dearly and remembered fondly for being such a wonderful husband and always making time for others.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Virginia Rossi, two children; Chris Rossi and his wife Doreen of Manalapan, NJ, and Lisa Costello and her partner Gina Scalanga of Jackson, NJ. He is also survived by two brothers; Robert Rossi and his wife JoAnn of WestPort, CT, and Ronald Rossi and his wife Arlene of Leesburg, FL, as well as three precious grandchildren; Anthony Costello, Paige Disano and Devyn Rossi, and his beloved rescue dog, Roxie.
