Woman killed in crash on Florida Turnpike in Lake County

A woman was killed in an early morning crash on the Florida Turnpike in Lake County.

The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the scene of the crash at 2:54 a.m. Friday in the southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike in the area of Mile Marker 285 at Howey-In-The-Hills.

The woman was driving a 2003 Buick Century which had been slowing when she was rear ended by a 2018 Kia Sorento, driving by a 39-year-old male from Orlando.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The Orlando man was transported to South Lake Hospital with serious injuries, but was reportedly in stable condition.

There was a roadblock for all southbound lanes on the Florida Turnpike in the area.

This crash remains under investigation.
