Joel C. Braswell, 81, of Tavares, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023.

Born in Cullman, Alabama to J. E. and Lottie Braswell, he moved to Tavares in 1950 as a child and graduated from Tavares High School. Joel served his country in the US Army during Vietnam and worked as a police officer at Eustis Police Department in the early 1960s. He worked as a citrus buyer most of his life, and worked in several other jobs from pest control to a service writer.

He is survived by his son, Joel (Rhiannon) Braswell, Jr., Dandridge, TN; three daughters, Jolie (Carl) Fowler, Grand Island, FL, Tina (Andrew) Grassel, Knoxville, TN, Tammy Rizzo, Tavares, FL; brother, Norman Braswell, Tavares, FL; two sisters, Marie Hollis, Poplarville, MS, Juanita (Talmadge) Hales, Monterey, TN; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that were like his own children.

Services will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023; interment will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
