Leesburg police stakeout nabs alleged drug dealer

A stakeout by Leesburg police officers at a location known for drug deals resulted in the apprehension of a suspected dealer.

A Leesburg officer who was observing the parking lot of the Family Discount Market, 2201 Griffin Road on Monday afternoon when he saw a gray Infinity car pull into the lot. He saw a male get out of the car and the officer ran a records check on the Infinity’s plate number. The search showed the owner to be 22-year-old Ka’Darion Davontae Turner whose license is suspended. The stakeout officer contacted other officers who moved in and used a patrol car to block the Infinity. Turner was placed under arrest and secured in the backseat of the patrol car.

When the officers searched the car they found a loaded six-shot Smith & Wesson revolver tucked between the drivers’s seat and the center console. Cocaine was found that was packaged for sale as was marijuana and baggies along with a digital scale. The officers also found $2,634.71 in U.S. currency. In the trunk they found a pill bottle with 11 doxyaycycline hyclate.

Turner was booked at the Leesburg Police Station for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a legend drug without labeling, possession of drug paraphernalia, concealing a firearm during a felony and driving while suspended after a conviction for driving while suspended. Turner was transported to the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $20,000.
