Virginia Aileen “Ginger” Williams, 76, of Umatilla, FL, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2022, under the care of Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages. Virginia was born in Evansville, IN, on November 28, 1946, to her parents; Norman and Alice (McFarland) Nicely.
Ginger was raised in Hopkinsville, KY by her beloved grandparents and she was of the Baptist faith. At the age of 16, she moved to Leesburg FL. Virginia loved to sing, she sang for the choir of her church as a child and had always dreamed of becoming a singer.
She worked as a typesetter and proofreader for The Leesburg Daily Commercial and eventually The Villages Daily Sun, then retired in 2012. In between her jobs at the newspapers, she also spent many years working as an AR Clerk at Town-n-Country Refuse. She enjoyed spending her time working on ceramics, fishing, playing cards with friends, and watching old western films and especially Yellowstone. She also loved owls; her house was decorated inside and out with them.
She will be missed greatly and remembered fondly for being a loving mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother.
Virginia is survived by her beloved children: Jason Williams (Sherry) and Angela Jackson (Doug). As well as 5 grandchildren: Taylor (Maddie), Colton (Audrey), Jason, Brieanna, and Zackary, and great- grandchild: Chase and a brother James Nicely and his wife Peggy.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Patricia and Pam, and her loving companion of 27 years: Mike Morris.
