A Leesburg teen was arrested last week for sending several Snapchat messages to a fellow classmate threatening to shoot him as well as his mother.
The messages included a picture of an individual wearing a mask and jacket while holding what appears to be a firearm, according to an arrest report. The threatened student showed the messages to a counselor at Tavares High School, who contacted the school resource deputy. The resource deputy examined the messages noting they were sent from the user name Anonymous_D_Alcatraz.
The resource deputy made contact with the student who was suspected of sending the messages. When the teen was shown the picture, he admitted he sent it. When questioned, he denied threatening the other student or his family.
The teen was arrested and was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice where he was charged with sending electronic threats to harm or kill.
