A driver who does not have a license has been arrested after a four-vehicle accident that claimed the life of a 42-year-old Eustis man Monday morning in Leesburg.
Gustavo Martinez Cortez, 36, of Eustis, was driving a 2003 Chevy Silverado at 7:14 a.m. at County Road 44 and North Silver Lake Road when he rear ended a 2004 Toyota Corolla driven by the Eustis man, who died at the scene of the crash.Â
He had been partially ejected from the vehicle. The name of the deceased driver was not released by the Florida Highway Patrol, which investigated the accident.
The accident also involved a semi-truck driven by a 69-year-old male from Avon Park and a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage driven by a 23-year-old woman from Deland. She suffered minor injuries and was transported to Advent Health Hospital in Tavares. Cortez and the semi-truck driver were not injured.
Cortez was taken into custody on a charge of driving without a license. He was booked at the Lake County Jail. He was being held without bond on a third degree felony charge.
