Leesburg police arrested a Wildwood man with a long criminal record late during at traffic stop at Gator Harley-Davidson.
A officer on Tuesday clocked a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica traveling 67 miles per hour in a 45 mph speed zone on U.S. Hwy. 441 near North Lake Avenue. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the van pulled into the Gator Harley-Davidson parking lot.
When the officer made contact with the van’s occupants, he found 38-year-old Levi Brandon Cole in the driver’s seat and a woman in the front passenger seat. Both told the officer that they were on their way to the UF Health-Leesburg Hospital although they were traveling in the wrong direction according to the arrest report.
When the officer asked Cole for his driver’s license Cole admitted his license was revoked. A records check revealed that Cole had multiple arrests and convictions for driving while revoked. He also was wanted a a felony warrant out of Sumter County for driving-related offenses. Cole was charged with committing a moving traffic violation while license revoked as a habitual traffic offender.
He was taken to the Lake County Jail where bond was set at $10,500 which he posted.
