A Leesburg man was arrested after allegedly punching his girlfriend because she was trying to clean the house on his day off.
The woman called 911 after she was punched in the face Saturday afternoon, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
When an officer arrived at the home located in the 2000 block of Johns Avenue, the woman said she has been living with 55-year-old Gabriel Castillo Lopez for the past 12 years. She said she had been cleaning the house and had some furniture blocking the door to the home. Lopez became angry that the doorway into the residence was blocked. As Lopez tried to push the furniture out of his way, the victim asked him to stop. At that point and without warning, Lopez reared back and hit her with his fist on the right side of her face, according to the report.
When officers spoke to Lopez, he told them he was mad at her for cleaning their home on his day off which hindered his ability to relax. He admitted to slapping her with an open hand.
A records check revealed that Lopez has two prior battery convictions. Lopez was placed under arrest for domestic battery. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,500 bond.
