A Leesburg man faces additional time in the Lake County Jail after a homemade weapon was found in his cell.
Jail records show Joshua Jerome Robertson was sentenced in May for domestic battery by strangulation and depriving use of 911. He was originally arrested Feb. 2.
Guards were searching Robertson’s cell at 12:45 a.m. on Aug. 13 when they found a makeshift stabbing weapon constructed out of a toothbrush and sharpened to a point. The weapon was concealed between a mattress and the lower bunk frame in the cell, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office report.
Guards asked who the bed belonged to, and Robertson admitted it was his. Robertson was placed in administrative confinement and charged with possession of contraband in a county detention facility.
