Publix employee arrested after pulled over at Ramshakle restaurant

A woman who works at a Publix grocery store in The Villages was arrested on Wednesday night for speeding and driving while her license was suspended.

A Fruitland Park police officer had been on patrol running a laser speed detection device on State Road 25 when he clocked a silver Ford pickup truck doing 76 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone. When he caught up to the Ford as it pulled into the Ramshackle Cafe restaurant on North 14th Street in Leesburg. The driver of the Ford, 55 -year-old Deloris Wright gave the officer her Florida driver’s license. A records check showed that her license had been suspended on Monday for nonpayment of a traffic citation.

Wright, who works at the grocery store at Spanish Plaines Plaza, has been caught driving while suspended eight previous times since 2002, according to the arrest report. She was booked at the Lake County Jail with bond set at $5,000 on a felony charge of driving while license suspended. She was also issued a speeding citation.
