Emogene Stegall, who served for more than five decades in the Lake County Supervisor of Elections Office, has passed away.

She died Saturday at age 95. She was the longest-serving elected official in Lake County history.

She went to work at the elections office in 1958. She was elected in 1972 as supervisor of elections and served in that role until her retirement in 2016.

During her many years of service, the office grew along with Lake County’s population. The elections office also saw a major transformation, thanks to technology.
