The discovery of a pair of men’s underwear led to a Leesburg man’s arrest on multiple felony charges.

Opree Manuel, 41, on Saturday accused his wife of cheating on him when he found a pair of men’s underwear in their bedroom. Manuel called his wife a “hoe,” according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

When his wife told him that the underwear belonged to her son and that she wanted a divorce, Manuel put his hands on her face and shoved her, the report said. Manuel, who stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 223 pounds, also shoved one of the couple’s sons into a table when he came to his mother’s aid. Manuel retrieved a black gun and threatened to shoot his wife. At that point her 16-year-old son heard the commotion, saw his stepfather with the gun and grabbed a knife to defend his mother. Manuel grabbed his belongings and fled the residence.

Lake County deputies executed a felony traffic stop on the Nissan car Manuel was driving westbound on County Road 44. Manuel was transported to the Lake County Jail where he was booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery, child abuse, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and driving while license revoked for driving under the influence. He was being held without bond as he was already on probation.
