A man was arrested with a gun in the parking lot of the Citizens First Bank branch in Leesburg.

A Lake County sheriff’s deputy was stopped Monday afternoon at a red light in his patrol vehicle when a car pulled up next to him. The deputy noticed that the female driver and male passenger were not wearing their seat belts. The deputy activated his emergency lights and the driver pulled into the bank’s parking lot.

While standing beside the driver’s window the deputy observed the male passenger take a drink from a bottle of Remy Martin Cognac Fine Champagne.

The deputy then requested identification from both the driver and the passenger. While the deputy who made the stop was writing tickets another deputy and a Leesburg police officer arrived at the scene. Both of those officers smelled marijuana coming from the car. At that point the male passenger, 20-year-old Kiereon Black told the officer that there was a clip in the car and there was a gun under the seat.

Marijuana and a 9mm semi automatic pistol were found in the car.

Black said he had the gun for self defense and claimed he has a 2nd Amendment right to have the gun.

Black was arrested on charges of possession of alcohol while underage, possession of marijuana and possession of a concealed weapon. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $3,000 bond.
